Obituary of Mary Jacquelyn Clark

Jackye Saunders Mayfield Clark, age 81, of Venice, Florida and Cheshire, Connecticut died March 31, 2006. She was born in Mt. Sterling, KY August 7, 1924, the daughter of Letcher Saunders and Clara Byrd Saunders Seabright. She moved to Venice in 1974 from New Canaan, Connecticut. She attended Mt. Sterling High School, Kentucky, Montreat College, North Caroline and graduated from Blackstone College for Women, Blackstone, Virginia. She was a pioneer in the airline and travel business, covering 50 years as a flight attendant and reservationist/ticket counter agent with Piedmont, Ozark-TWA and American Airlines. In Venice, she was owner/partner of GM World Travel in the late 70’s. She had visited a major part of the world, visiting 83 countries and 49 U.S. states including Hawaii and Alaska. She was a member of the DAR, The Venice Presbyterian Church, Plantation Country Club and New Haven Country Club. She is survived by her husband, Gordon M. Clark of Venice and Cheshire, Connecticut; sons, Mark Mayfield of Atlanta, GA and Michael Mayfield Constantine of Louisville, KY; 2 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, Gordon’s daughters Sandra Beering of Wellington, CT and Linda Clark of San Francisco, CA. A memorial service will be held at The Venice Presbyterian Church in the outside garden on Tuesday, April 4 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to TideWell Hospice Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.
