Conard Walton, Jr.

Obituary of Conard A Walton, Jr.

Conard Ambler Walton, Jr. of North Port, Florida and Bethlehem, PA returned to his spiritual home on March 29, 2022 to be reunited with his beloved sons, Jason and Curtis.

Born in Allentown, PA on November 10, 1947, he graduated from Willian Allen High School in 1965. Con attended Moravian College and then enlisted in the U S Navy. He spent four years in the Navy, first as an electrician and then as a scuba diver in the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas.

Con married his partner and chief executive, Cecelia Anne Durning, of Newtown Square, PA in 1972 after meeting her on the chairlift at Camelback Ski Mountain in the Pocono Mountains.

Con was a Cub Scout Leader and a Boy Scout Leader of East Allen Township Troop 35. He also coached soccer. Volunteering with these groups, he applied his love of the forest, water and nature to the education of his young sons, Jason and Curtis.

Con’s nieces and nephews often admired his candor, kindness and mischievous sense of humor.

For 35 years Con worked for Verizon Inc, as a technician. He retired at age 55 to spend more time at his cabin at Peck’s Pond in the Poconos. He continued to pursue his love of hunting, fishing and gardening.

Con bought a business, Pocono Lake Maps, and he developed nautical charts of many lakes including depth, contours and other natural features. The maps were then sold to retail stores in the Poconos.

The Navy allowed Con to travel to many places but the place he was the happiest was in the sunshine of Florida. In 2015, Celie and Con built a home in North Port, Florida where they spent each winter.

Fishing in the lakes, rivers, harbors and Gulf waters of SW Florida occupied his days when he wasn’t at the beach or by the pool in Cypress Falls. His joy of the natural world was contagious to those around him.

Con will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 50 years, Celie, as well as many relatives and friends.

On April 5, 2022 a memorial service was held at 3:00pm in the Sarasota National Cemetery located at 9810 State Road 72 Sarasota, FL.
