Obituary of Zenna I. Marsee

Zenna Inez Greer Arnold Marsee was born in Coxton, Harlan County, Kentucky on December 20, 1930 to Nancy (Nannie) Helen Watkins Greer and John Avery Greer. She passed away on November 10, 2022 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Zenna was blessed to be married to two wonderful men who helped raise her children. She was married to Jasper Edwin Arnold 25 years until his death in 1972 and to Athel (Bud) Marsee for 27 years until his death in 2001. Her life revolved around her family and Church. She valued education, made sure her children went to college, and loved being a part of helping students receive scholarships to further their education. Zenna was a charter member at the First Baptist Church of Englewood, Ohio. She raised her children at this Church and volunteered in several areas: teaching Sunday School, directing the WMU, singing in the choir, working with the children, and was the Church secretary. In Venice, where she has lived 39 years, she was a member at the First Baptist Church of Venice where she participated in Sunday School, choir, and musical dramas. She also attended Christ Venice UMC where she participated in the choir. Her hobbies included beautiful flower gardens, vegetable gardens, sewing, crocheting, and bowling. She loved her dogs: Patches, Pedro, Pepper, and the one who gave her so much joy while she was sick- Bandit (Bandy). Sitting on her lanai, watching the birds, fish, and the tide was one of the joys of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Nancy (Nannie) Helen Watkins Greer and John Avery Greer; her siblings: Leonard Horace Greer, Kellas Robert Greer, Roxie Edith Greer Doan, Helen Frances Greer Halcomb, Clarence Edward Greer, Odell Greer; her loving husbands: Jasper Edwin Arnold, and Athel (Bud) C. Marsee; two children: Donald Marsee and Dale Marsee; sister-in-laws: Ora Mae Arnold Morgan, Mabel Marsee Geers: brother-in-laws: Ralph Edmond Arnold, William Ransom Arnold, Avery Marsee; nephews: George Edward Greer, David Lowell Greer, Denver Greer, Johnny Greer, Arthur (Junior) Doan, Nathan Halcomb, Kenny Greer, Henry L (Junell) Morgan, Ralph Ascie Morgan, Donald Lloyd Morgan, Ralph Darrell Arnold, Ronald Wayne (Jim) Arnold,; nieces: Delena Greer, Margaret C (Sis) Morgan Lee, Virginia Doris Morgan Flick.

She is survived by her children: Robert Edwin Arnold and wife Karen Ann Villafarra Arnold, Larry Wayne Arnold and his wife Oksun Kim Arnold, Theresa Mae Arnold, David Lynn Marsee and wife Cynthia Gunter Marsee, Douglas Wayne Marsee, Teresa Rae Marsee; daughter-in-law Nelly Marsee; sister-in-law: Helen June Marsee Clark; nephews and nieces: Terry Wayne Greer, Coolidge Avery Greer, Kellas Robert Greer Jr, Wanda Faye Doan Burkhardt, Sherry Greer Hoskins, Jennie Greer Huddleson, Jerry Greer, Zenna Greer Allen, Ronnie Greer, Donnie Greer, Henrietta Morgan Rutherford, Dexie Morgan Hiles, Linda Marsee Dingley, Myra Marsee Crawford, Avery Marsee Jr, Denise Marsee Jones, Mike Geers, Mitch Geers, Brenda Geers Ingram, Jean Geers Savage, Kelly Clark; grandchildren: Julie Ann Arnold, Christopher Edwin Arnold, Jason Wayne Arnold, Janette Marsee Bruner, Heather Marsee Roth, Ashley Denise Marsee Burling, Dane Marsee, Carol Marsee Shade, Derick Marsee, Bob Marsee, Mary Marsee Hennessy, Brian Marsee, Peter Hackman, Jason Miller, Johnny Miller; great-grandchildren: Edward, Kayla, Jason Miller’s two kids, Dane’s two kids, Carol’s three kids, Mary’s three kids, Brian’s two kids.
