It was my privilege to work with Ozzie on many United Way campaigns in the 90's. He was a kind man, with a caring heart, and a joy for life. Rest in peace my friend, your legacy will live on through those you helped in your time on this earth.

In honor of Ozzie, I chose to have a tree planted. Just like him, a tree is strong and takes care of others. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Join in honoring their life - plant a memorial tree

It was with sadness that I heard about Ozzie's passing. He had been a faithful and wonderful volunteer with us, Visit Sarasota County, for 10 year in both our Sarasota and Venice visitor centers. A quiet man, a kind man. I will miss him and will fondly remember the many conversations about our somewhat shared personal history (I am originally from Belgium so Ozzie shared his partly Belgian heritage with me). My sincere heartfelt condolences to the whole family. Sandrina McCloud, Visitor Experience Manager, Visit Sarasota County

I'll never forget the shared smiles and laughter, the lively conversations, and his broad shoulders to cry on. And after he left Green Bay, who could ever forget those totally unannounced, "surprise visits" each trip he made back. I'd either be covered in gardening mud head-to-toe, or worse yet, in my pj's ready to call it a night. I still can see him walking through my back gate with a big smile saying "Surprise, your knight in shining armor is here!" I wonder if he used that line on the ladies at the Pearly Gates? His heart was solid gold. God rest his weary soul. Thanks for the 28 years of memories Oz. I miss you and your texts already. Happy Trails good friend!

Was shocked and saddened to learn of Ozzie's death. From learning we grew up around the corner from each other (I lived on the corner of Allard & Reed & Ozzie knew my brother Alan well) to living less than a block apart in Champion (us on the corner of Gravel Pit & Bryan...,on Gravel Pit) and becoming good friends. To also learning we are distant cousins (my great-great aunt Adele Coel married David Ausloos).....Ozzie was one of a kind. Kindhearted and giving to just being cheerful & fun to be around, he will be missed.
If you are having mass cards, could you please send us one. Tom & Vicki (Lewis) McKee 607 Terraview Drive, Green Bay, WI 54301

My condolences to all of you. I had the pleasure of volunteering with him at the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce. Although generally quiet, his dry sense of humor filled out the day. I remember him most as helping me find extra chairs for the lanai. He scoured the web until he found me a great bargain. Ozzie was a great guy and will be missed by all.

I had the great opportunity to work with Ozzy on many Union/United Way projects. He was a caring and thoughtful man who always wanted the best for everyone. He was a great collaborator with sources that didn't have respect for Unions while at United Way. Another Union brother who was a decent and kind human being that made a difference in everything he did in Wisconsin and Florida.
