Obituary of Barbara J. Brink
Barbara J. Brink, 77, passed away on April 28, 2024, in Port Charlotte, FL. She was born on January 6, 1947, in Lonoke, Arkansas to Jesse and Audrey (Jones) Whitaker. The family moved to Indiana where she graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend, IN. Barbara married her husband Bernard Brink in 1966.
Barbara and her late loving husband of 58 years owned and operated their own A&W restaurant in Audubon, Iowa for 32 years.
She enjoyed crocheting blankets, taking pictures, shopping, and mostly spending time with family. They moved to retire in Florida in 2001.
She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Barbara is survived by her daughters; Jeannie (Ken) Smith of Punta Gorda, FL, and Kimberly (Reggie) of Boone, Iowa; Son Thomas (Samantha) Brink of Atlantic, Iowa.
She has 6 grandchildren; Angela (Tommy) Elliot of New York; Tiffany, Cody, and Michael Brink of Iowa; Craig and Brittney Smith of Punta Gorda, FL.
She has 4 great grandchildren.
She is survived by her siblings: Danny (Jane) Whitaker and Larry (Alla) Whitaker of Indiana. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barbara is predeceased by her loving husband Bernard D. Brink of 58 years; her parents: Dick and Audrey Whitaker, and Henry and Geraldine Brink. Siblings: Sisters Mickie Brink and Susie Whitaker Bucker.
She will be laid to rest with her husband at Sarasota National Cemetery.
